I came to yoga after years of competitive swimming and running. After seven marathons, and numerous other endurance events, I found yoga offered me a better way to restore and rejuvenate my body and mind. After several years of personal practice, I enrolled in Marni Task’s teacher training program, a transformative experience.
I offer a strong and athletic vinyasa flow class that is inspired by the traditions of my teacher, Marni, an advanced certified Jivamukti and Anusara inspired instructor. My classes are accompanied by music that moves and inspires me, and my goal is to create a sacred space for students to come to their mat and create their own yoga. That may mean coming to their mat and walking the razor’s edge, that may mean coming to their mat and having a sixty minute seated meditation. Every class is different, and I want to cultivate an atmosphere where students feel comfortable to listen to and take care of their bodies. With respect to asana practice, I want to communicate the postures in a way that helps students develop increased body awareness and an appreciation for distinguishing between healthy and unhealthy edges. I also make seated meditation a regular part of class, as I believe that the mere fact of being still when it is time to be still can have amazing health benefits equal to or even greater than asana practice.
In my day job, I am a practicing attorney, wife, and mother to a 4 year old boy, and 9 year old German shepherd.
